First time event with the 1150.

While riding to the bike club tonight, I noticed the battery warning light was dimly lit. But carried on and later as I got up to a roundabout, I braked and nothing, just alternate flashing of the warning and abs lights.
At a standstill in idle, the battery light went out. Servo brakes worked fine again.
On the return leg back home, all was back to normal.

What could cause that anomaly?

Is it a servo version? Very demanding on the battery...

Dodgy earth? Dodgy battery? ABS needs some attention (bleeding/flush)

Servo version.
And yes, it has been 3 yrs since last fluid service change.
I need to spend some money before Xmas in it.

Battery (PC680) not at its peak nowadays but, have a back up Yuasa YT19BL to put in.

battery warning light is a charging light .in other words it comes on if your battery is not being charged,as said it could be a bad earth or an alternator not charging enough.
 
My voltmeter is Showing at least 14V.

Is that while it's running? Run it and while measuring, pull the brake lever...

Btw, did the bike cut out when these lights came on?

It's possibly the multi earth point in the instrument loom.
Water gets in and the unprotected multi earth point turns to green mush (verdigris) causing weird electrical problems in the instrument panel.
 
No, just brakes not functioning through servo. But, out on the bike today and all seems well.

Hmmm.... you might be due for a servoectomy. But others may have more positive ideas...

Beg or borrow a multimeter you can attach red lead to starter main lead see the voltage while ticking over then put some load on rev engine should be over 13 volts if not suspect alternator that's if the alternator belt is tensioned correctly
My 1150 has a external regulator brush box which is easier to take off and check the brushes if need replacement a good auto electrician or wood auto should be able to supply
 
I wonder if the electrical load at the time was high - spotlights, heated grips, and then adding the servo pulled the battery down? I would not do anything other than checking teminals / earths before changing the battery.
 
Beware the servo giving up the ghost with no warning whatsoever... you can be riding fine, brake for junction/roundabout all normal, then the next roundabout you brake for NOTHING - absolutely nothing and no warning beforehand. I had it happen going down a Welsh mountain road, came round a corner and there were roadworks - no prior warning board! I pulled on the brake lever and NOTHING... I went sailing through the traffic cones and men with shovels jumping in all directions and eventually hauled her down on the gears and kill switch. I ohoned for the recovery truck and had the servo removed by the good Mr. Steptoe while he serviced and did anything else that was needed too. :thumby:

Your symptoms seem to mimmick what happened to mine and it was simply the battery not fully charged after starting - sometimes the ABS light would flash until I had done 10 miles or so, then if I turned the engine off, restarted it all went back to normal, it was simply the battery needed a bit more ooomph after starting the bike.
 
Where is the multi earth point!

in the wiring loom to the instruments

near to the front of the fairing bracket as the loom turns upwards

You have to split the Loom wrapping

Its not a great design as its multiple earths clamped rather than soldered

and I seem to recall there are actually a couple of them in a 100 mm distance Not just the one
