Was'nt intentional either - but I spotted a small road on Google Earth that led up to a remote convent here in Cadiz. Looked like the type of roads that are just really tired old farm roads that degenerate into a gravel track occassionally.

WRONG!!!:blast

Rode for around 35 mins thinking 'this bit is worse than I anticipated but has to get better soon'. Wrong again. Went from gravel to small rocks (2-4") to boulders to sand, and back. Precipitous drops on one side and overgrowth on the other.

I got to a point whwre there was not enough room to turn around - and a hill that was ridiculously steep and narrow with just boulder strewn 4X4 tracks eather side. I had to give it a go!

Viola - made it up, only to find the track degenerated even more so about 100 m along. That was less than half way to the Convent so, with smelly clutch and pumped arms I decided to turn back.

That hill was scarry going up, but boy was it worse going down! Turned the ABS off but hell - never done that sort of thing on anything but a GasGas. Just slithered every inch of the way down (40m or so).

Seems like it shook the life out of my 550, but jeeze did I feel good after I got back on the road.

This is a GS, with road tyres - it has no right to handle that sort of track and not even try to pitch me off once! I had'nt realised how easy this thing is to ride on the pegs either.

Once I hit the road I felt like a riding God (as in Oh God here he is again :D) and had another couple of hours blasting around the slippery Spanish roads.

What a fabulous beast this GS is.

I'll be taking my 650GS up there tomorrow night and see what I can do then.
