Hi all,

First time on here so be gentle! following my recent first proper ride to the black forest with some GSER members(a superb bunch of guys) I am now desperate to get myself a GS, and get off my tired Tiger 955i I am always searching for my first GS, and with my very limited budget(2500-3500) I'm looking at either 1100gs or a high mileage 1150gs.

There is a 1150 near me, but it has 74K, thats seems really high for a motorbike, would you guys contemplate it?? are they really that good for such high miles??, would a low miles 1100gs be a better bet?? Is the 1150 a big improvement over the 1100gs??.

Your wisdom/advice/abuse on this matter is much appreciated.

Kind regards
Jason

don't shoot me for saying but have you thought of the 650 single? You could get a nice one in budget.

don't buy one you'll be racked for ever what oil, tyre's, luggage, extra lights and their colour, MOT issues... you'll be faced in the future....

get a honda.... even Hitler can't be all wrong...:thumb2

Cheers for 650 tip, my first bike was a pegaso(which was great), but I would rather move up to a boxer, and I have been encouraged(bullied by GSer members, while in a weakened state from alcohol!!) to get a "man's" bike. On the quiet I would be quite happy on a 650, but have been told they lack the legs on a long journey. I am hoping to do alot more touring, so I guess the boxer would be better???

Coming from a tiger 955i if you are looking for similar performance then an 1150 or 1200 would be the way to go.finding one on a limited budget may be difficult.
The triumph has a peach of an engine ,easily as comfy ,only the suspension lets it down a bit when you boot on.

But if you have the GS itch,Timolgras 1100 does look a cracker

It does look nice, will contact him, I almost was about to ask what to look out for in way of problems with a 1100, but I could almost hear you all sigh at the thought of guiding me through that mine field!!!

Its great hearing your comments, thanks v much.

Tiger is nice, as for me getting a boot on, thats a rare event, as the guys I ride with will verify, I'm the one with flies on the back of his helmet!. So performance is not a big factor for me, just reliable mileage muncher I need.

get a loan for 1500,add that to your budget and you can have my 1150 GSA. :D

Chichester! GSA! would love to have a look(and a sit on), my worry is their quite tall, and im 5,8, so was worried about being comfortable at low speed traffic etc. am looking round the house to see what I sell!!! It is above my budget, but you never know!
