First trip to Europe on a bike!

Sounds like a great trip. Don't forget to take your original V5 document along with obviously your driving licence, passport and MOT cert if the bike needs one.

Just to remind you to stay on the right, as previously mentioned, some people I know tie a small piece of string or put tape around the right hand mirror stalk just as a memory jogger, may work for you.

Also EHIC card and don't forget the single most important addition to the first aid kit ....... Immodium tablets!!!!! :D

HAve fun.

Small problem to start with, though:

Stuart Harvey (Forces Financial) are the insurance broker, not your insurer. ;)

Whilst yours may well be different, the insurer of the Travel policy shown on their website is a Lloyd's syndicate.

.... Of possible greater concern is that the sample policy shows:

Motor cycling (up to 125cc) That is exactly the problem the bod who was killed had.

I stress your policy may well be different to the one shown on the broker's website, so ignore this post if so. :beerjug:

Richard

Thanks for looking out for me Richard,

I 'phoned Forces Financial and checked with them direct about the engine size thing and they assure me that there's no such restriction on the policy we have, just an overall 30 day time limit on the trip.

Cheers again

+1 and spare cash/credit card some where seperate to your wallet:augie

I had my wallet stolen in Belgium on the way to Germany for the weekend and was almost screwed.:blast

try to remember that your trip is about the "riding and roads" rather than trying to get somewhere. ~Enjoy the moment.
You might want to adjust your main beam so it points the correct way so as to avoid being flashed regularly at night.
Oh and fill up before you get on the ferry.:blast

Surrey Y.

and returned.
It will be a pleasure to introduce you to our corner of the world.:beerjug: PB

PS If anyone else is planning a trip down the Med coast, do stop by.

setup up a webbased email and send your self copies of all the various documents

insurance, bike and you
scan of driving license, passport etc.

if your in any doubt a list of BMW dealers along the way, if you have a smart phone you can refer to it along the way.

just an idea...

have fun

pop into Aldogonales, El Bosce have the veal it nice, it's down that way watch the paragliders and hand gliders fly about, very nice great roads loads of wierd locals...

Credit Cards

It helps if you give them notice where you are going in advance.

Saves unusual spend patterns putting a fraud block on while you are away.

Enjoy the trip

Spain and back no probs

10hrs driving in a truck @56mph down the west coast would see me close to the Spanish Border south of Bordeaux Hope that puts it in perspective distance wise

Regards Frank

Make two piles

A wise man once said to me... When preparing for a bike trip, Make a pile of all the kit you think you will need and make another pile of all the money you think you will need.

Half the kit pile and double the money pile !

Enjoy the ride

Btw I will be on the road at the same time in the same area if you fancy meeting for a java/beer lie telling session ...

fwiw i tape two three pieces of red insulting tape on my right mirror arm to remind me to keep on the right :rob

If you're so forgetful that you don't know which side of the road you're meant to be on don't you find yourself also wondering what that red insulating tape is on my mirror ?. :D
