Does anyone know what that red spike thing is that pulls out from the side of the plug? Have one on a Garmin power plug but can't work out what it's for.

That plug normally comes with a red pice that goes on then end as well. It's a euro style plug so you can use it in a car as well as on the bike, like this;

It just twists on/off.

The red spike thing is for when you pull the socket out and leave the red piece in the hole in your car

I'll be doing something similar when the parts arrive from Nippynorman's. I've gone for the ciggy lighter size so I can plug in my travel kettle, tyre inflator and other stuff, without needing to carry the BMW adapter.

Was it easy to fit?
