Fitted Remus headers Whooooo HOOOOOOOO!!!

Its clear on this thread that fitting Remus pipes is ok with your BMW warranty, but is this only if the dealer fits them, what if you fit them yourself...warranty still ok ?
You don't need to get BMW to fit things to your bike for your warranty to be valid.

I did the remus headers with the hexacone exhaust and it was too loud. I had to pupt the stock can back on to quiet it down at bit. How much louder is the Remus akra combo? Maybe I'll pic up an akra can.

The Remus/akra combo is quite loud with the baffle out.

It's also not a very appealing sound, compared to some twins that sound fab with more open pipes.

But I now run mine with the baffle in and it's fine.

I ran the full remus system with the baffle in and it was still too blatty. The remus header and stock can seems to be the ticket if you're not into real loud exhausts.

Remus Headers and Std Can

I have the full Remus System fitted at the moment but want to swap the Remus can for the std one..(to keep the noise down a bit for a pending trip to Europe)

Had a go yesterday but couldn't get the fixing bracket on the std can to line up with the frame support bracket...(?). It was miles out!!

I've had the Remus can on the bike with the Std headers but can't get it to fit the other way around...any ideas????

I've had the stock can on Remus headers on both my 2006 and 2008 bikes with no problems on fitting.

The mount on the standard can is adjustable by loosening the 2 torx headed bolts on it which allows it to side up and down the length of the can.

Make sure the can is fully engaged on the Remus headers and see if that helps. :thumb

The angle of the can looked wrong....hanging too low. Even by sliding the clamp bracket down the silencer it still wouldn't line up.

The can was a VERY tight fit on the headers though. You may be right that I hadn't pushed it on far enough...I'll have a more thorough look at the weekend..

Thanks G:thumb

Just emailed Calsport so will let you know what they say :beerjug:

Hey Bud - Any news from calsport? Bought myself the remus hexacone from calsport last month and thinking of headers next - only a new set seems to have gone up to approx £330/340 almost everywhere lately.

Price increases are down to the strong Euro I'm afraid, a lot of European manufactures have been increasing their prices lately.

Any idea how the Motad headers compare? As they are UK made the Euro rate wouldn't be an issue.

If they're any good I can put you in touch with a guy who lives near the factory & has arranged discount with them. He's a moderator (& founder) of a Honda Pan European forum, I know him from my previous life as a Pan rider.

From the Motad site..

£199.99 + postage. (before any discount)

Anyone got any experience of the Motad headers?

I remember Motad as aftermarket pipe suppliers in the 80's/90's but they seem more low profile these days. I think that they make the OE pipes for Triumph.

I bought a set of Motad headers, the old saying of you get what you pay for!
The lamba sensors were all but touching the BMW fitted engine bars and the fit of the can to the tail of the Y piece was slack. There is no support mounting for the Y piece to the peg at the rear of the engine.

I contacted the sales and was told that I was the first to report this so I could have had a rogue set.

In all fairness I'm away at the moment and haven't been able to resolve this with them, but have invested in a set of Remus headers, which I feel I should have done in the first place.

gotta be said lads, picked me up a second hand set of remus headers yesterday, fitted em today, what a difference!!!, smoother power delivery, and definatly quicker pick up in the mid range!!, so to anybody who's thinking of changing to remus headers, fcukin do it i say:thumb
