Fitting 1200 injectors to an 1100gs.

Thanks for this guys, my kit from Tils arrived yesterday, fitted in under 30 minutes and instant transformation to the bike. Money well spent.
Any other mods people would recommend to keep me on the 1100 and not be tempted by something more modern? Suspension seems to be the one, but would I really notice ?

Not to throw the value of my bike at shocks I bought a YSS kit instead of Ohlins/Wilbers and it still made a big difference... They do a kit... I paid £800... I was out for a couple of decent spins over the weekend and use my 11 most days and even my last set of used injectors a fit kit via MWorks has made a big difference... That and one of John Gemis chips means that in the lower speed range the bike pulls easily from 2k and is off at 3... I rarely rev the bike over 5k these days and it's all lover midrange... I get hardly any of the 1100 low speed "coughs" the Motronic used to do on many of the oilheads... This is the 2nd GS with this combo and the 3rd oilheads...👍

A change of shocks makes a huge difference if you're on the original 25-30 year old units - in my case a less harsh ride at the front and more control at the rear. It's a lot to spend on an old bike but well worth it IMO - I bought very second (or 3rd or 4th....) hand WP units and had them rebuilt by Darren at MCT. And another endorsement for John Gemi chips from me, although I have an 1150 - makes a huge difference to flexibility at lower revs and pulls harder higher up the rev range without an appreciable difference in fuel consumption (surprisingly). Standard can but a Y-piece replacing the cat. I have 1200 injectors from Tils too which seem to result in easier starting and a slightly smoother idle. I suspect they may have made more of a difference without the extra fuel that the John Gemi chip adds.

Same here, my R1150Rt had both and the injectors were already multipoint, just a later version... They're way more subtle that the single point 1100s which with the earlier Motronic version could make for the low speed running issues... I remember riding an early 1150gs demo while my 11 was being serviced and thought WTF... I have ridden perfectly set up standard 11s as well which were a revelation...

so the kit is either motorworks 2 x FUA01100-1 bracket and seal kit at £44 each plus 2 x Bosch 0280 158 038 at ~£29 on ebay (£146 total) or FUA01100A-1 complete kit for £205 or Tills 11540 - 117,65 EUR plus shipping but has spacers and uses the orginal injector bracket instead of a doglegged bracket of mworks kit and min order is 150 euro plus 15 euro shipping and maybe some tax applied. Pretty similar prices, but i guess you can get a few other goodies from tils to make up the min 150euro order qty

Buy one full kit or the other and make your life simple... Don't try to source different bits from different places and then end up short of something..
The kits are there for a reason...

The Tils minimum order value applies only for orders being delivered outside of the EU. I got around this by having my injectors delivered to a friend in Spain who I was due to visit soon after. This also cost less for postage. If you know anyone living in the EU, get Tils stuff delivered to them and ask them to forward it on to you.

That's why I ended up just going to Motorworks. I had 2x Tills kits and they were great but I did like the Motorworks brackets more...

I'd usually agree that buying a full kit, that someone else has spent time and money producing, is the best way to go, but: The fixing kit from Motorworks appears to be all the modified parts you need. You can get genuine Bosch injectors cheaper elsewhere, as they are a common part on hundreds of vehicles, so with hidsight, I'd buy the modified parts kit, and then a pair of injectors from a motorspares shop, think Autodoc sell them for under £27 each.
The mod in itself is well worth doing as well, my bike had done 63k miles so I'd say the injectors were getting worn. The EV14 injector has the '4 hole' jet pattern which is better than the old injectors' spray pattern, the performance and cold starting is much better for sure :D

Tils claim that the injectors in their conversion kits are 'matched' which I took to mean had been tested to have the same flow rate. Probably makes bu**er all difference on an old tractor, though, compared with just buying a Bosch pair elsewhere.

Thanks for that, can you tell me what kit you got and where you sourced it from ? Thanks, Steve

I bought 2x Tills kits when we were part of the EU without the added complications and a used Motorworks set since... It was exactly as described and on these old buses I didn't notice a difference... They do a new set as well which is probably £40ish more than Tills if you don't get stung for customs and I don't mean fae Yorkshire...👍😂 As for matched set the tolerances in an oilheads probably negate that 😂

Hi , I meant the suspension kit. Thanks

Hi , I meant the suspension kit. Thanks
Firefox Racing and it was a 2 shock kit withe the rear shock with a remote preload. You pay extra for that and I may never use it but the lower fork mount on an 1100 means the spring preload collars are always up in the recess under the seat and if you ever want to change the preload you need to remove the shock... I bought the stock spring set as I'm in the weight range they're recommended for... Like I said, £800 for the full set and even though YSS are seen as the more budget "orifice" damping variety, they are well made for the price.

I can thoroughly recommend these people UK made and GREAT value I am VERY happy with the difference this made I could not warrant £300 plus on a More expensive shock for a bike with 90K that is not often ridden and I thought Sure I will "just suck it up and see" and the result was excellent I look forward to a run out now Linky

As well as injectors, and suspension, Lennies Rocket Sprockets.
And then find a lighter exhaust system, loose the cat and the muffler (its all one piece) and will flow with much more freely.

I used Bosch part 0 280 158 038 @ 58.75 inc vat & carriage for 2 off, from Autodoc. From Motor Works 2 off FUA01100 adaptor kits @ 92.31. Total 151.06, happy with that.

I fitted the Motorworks kit, cost almost £200, very happy with the conversion. Its so easy to do, just fit the parts, then twist the throttle twice to match up the new injectors, job done! You can buy the fittings and source the injectors as above, and save a few quid, or just take the easy route and pay Motorworks for the full kit! Either way, the Motorworks kit is the what you need. :)

The new injectors LOOK like injectors compared to the archaic things you pull out of the throttle bodies 😂
