Fitting a GSA screen

I'm 5'10. I've had the GSA screen on three previous GS's. The standard screen is very good, until you use a Tour X4.

The picture of it on the bike in the garage doesn't do it justice, it looks great in the flesh.

Haven't seen a WC with a GSA screen in the flesh yet - looking forward to more pics ...

Yes please, more Pics Nutty ....along with screen measurements :beerjug:

BTW, where did you get it from - BMW ?

Well, 200 miles done today, and I'm glad I went for the adventure screen. NO buffeting, and much less wind noise.:beerjug:

Screen in the high position on fast open roads and in the low position on the smaller back roads, and it was spot on.

Here's a couple of pictures.

Low position

High position

It looks quite big in the pictures, but in real life looks good, and does what it's meant to.

If you're thinking about getting one, I recommend it.:beerjug:

Thats looking good.
I took mine on the motorway today and found it was slightly blustery/noisey.
I think i will wait till its had its 1st service and try it at higher speed and see what its like then.
Is the Adventure screen just a straight swap?no extra supports like on the old GS.

Yep, same supports.:thumb

I fitted the GSA screen a couple of weeks ago. It is 40 mm wider at the lower edge (but no wider where the mirrors would clash ) and 40 mm taller . It is an improvement on stock.

I am 6'2'' with a long back and should probably have waited for the taller GSA screen, soon to be available.

BMW have definitely done aero work on this screen with relatively clean air flow and little buffeting. When it rains (it does sometimes) you can see the water beads cascading up and away to the edges ....... Good aero and the secret to clean air and long riding days with no buffeting.

Any ideas why both Wunderlich and Givi recommend extra supports for their screens to stop them wobbling about, but the GSA screen seems OK without? :nenau

Nutty, can you describe the fitting procedure? I am sorely tempted, but have read posts on other forums of people undoing screens and components pinging around the garage never to be found. Four screws I could handle; a complete front-end rebuild on the same scale as fitting the aux lights and I might give it a miss. :D

I don't know why they recommend extra supports. The screen doesn't move any more than the normal one, and I tested it at "high speeds" today.:D

Changing the screen is a doddle. Just undo the two centre bolts, located in the middle of the long screen mounts, then just pop the screen down, and it will come off. Then remove the supports, put them on the new screen, and mount to the bike. You don't have to take anything else off the bike.:thumb

It's a 5 minute job, at the most.

Can we have a pic from the side and from a diagonal ? Hard to get a good impression from a front shot only. Cheers !

These are the only ones I have for now

It looks good. When I bite the bullet Ill see if the standard does the job but this seems like a good upgrade and not crazy money for a change
