Morning all
I am debating fitting an R1150GSA sidestand to my R1150GS so that it’s a little easier to get off the sidestand especially when loaded up as I’m a little short in stature but love the bike. I’m not going to change the centrestand as I know this quite involved but just wondered if just doing the side stand is an easier job.
All help and advise appreciated as normal 😎

I’ve fitted a ice hockey puck under my side stand and added two bolts, saves stripping it down

Straight swap, a 10 minute job and it does make a difference

I did the ice hockey puck, works really well and prevents the bike stand to sink in on softer surface.I am considering a GSA side stand, only problem is where to get it from? Been watching various sites and so far haven’t come across one yet. Saying that haven’t tried the breakers yet!
By the way I might have a puck left, need to find it though.....

Can’t you cut and extend your side stand? A few hours with a grinder and a welder

Due to the longer suspension of the GSA the sidestand is longer so will stand a standard GS more upright.

makes sence

how much longer is a GSA stand ?

I have just rebushed my stand which was a good improvement as it was sitting at a severe angle but I could get the grinder and welder out and lengthen the stand

GSA stand is longer , when the bike is fully laden with luggage it is much easier to lift up to ride away , also less likely to fall over on adverse camber when on the stand as it is more upright

what is the main differences in the 2 stands ?

Not much, about half an inch difference in the lengths between standard GS and ADV side stands . As said, fit a hockey puck.
