Has anyone any experience of fitting an additional fuel cell to a GS - I am looking to gain some additional distance capability for the Iron Butt Rally in May. (I know the easiest option would be to fit an Adventure tank but the few I have seen for sale are far too expensive, unless someone has one they could lend me for the last weekend in May?) :bounce1

I've done some reading up on this and at the moment I think the most extensive options are to be had from the USA. Thye seem to be turning them out for every possible bike. I think it worked out about $500 when I looked the last time. But you'll still need to do some extensive plumbing. Most people also suggest not going for the electrical pump version but gravity fed. I have seen some converted 1150gs and it realy looks like a good option. So please keep us informed if you do go that way.
A few of the web sites I looked at.

Thanks, but rules prohibit carrying any sort of jerry cans, and don't think Nomad tanks woud pass scrutineering either - basically has to be metal, internally baffled and fixed securely to the bike.

Will look into other options suggested and see what is possible - thanks for replies so far :thumb

http://www.motorcyclerandr.com/Needs.aspx - contacted these guys who look to make the best (visually at least) option - can make any size for $1350 plus p&p, which is more than a 41 litre tank from TT, or a secondhand Adventure tank if one comes up on fleabay, so will keep looking (or practise my fuel stops more!)
