Fitting Autocom to an LC ?

Has anyone any tips for fitting an Autocom to the Mark 4 GS LC ?
Where did you take the power supply from ?

Mine is the 2013 GS LC I have mounted my Autocom super pro avi system and my Kenwood radio in the space under the pillion seat, once it's all in there is no space left but it will all fit. As to power, I decided not to cut into the bikes wiring so I ran shrink wrapped power cables under the bike plastic and broke into the power supply to the Sat Nav system which comes from the auxiliary socket (not the small cigar lighter one) which is above the right Hand radiator under the instrument cluster. Sounds good. I've been checking out options to add an additional aux power socket as well and the supply looks to come from that very plug you've mentioned. Looks to be an installed spare. How did you get to it -is there much to remove ?

I'm thinking of the Super Pro auto as well, with BT module to link the NAV 5....
How is yours set up / working ?

Hi again,
I have removed the BMW Sat Nav mount as it is not possible to link it to the Autocom,
I replaced it with a standard 660 mount fitted into a Touratech locking cradle,
As I already had a BMW power plug which fitted into the aux power socket I soldered it
to the garmin power supply cable with a separate pair of wires also soldered to the joint
And ran those cables through the bike to feed the units under the pillion seat. The running of
The cable does require the removal of the plastic side panels of the bike (just one side)
and a hand full of cable ties but its not difficult about 10 little screws. By doing it this way
all of my electronics are bike powered and switch off when the bike is switched off.

Good to hear from someone with first hand experience. Any particular reason you didn't want to Bluetooth the Autocom ? It'll be my first foray into Bluetooth comms, but I believe its the only way to get stereo sound (music) with the standard set up.

If its the standard nav IV mount you can make a small notch in the side and the Autocom cable will fit. A Dremil is perfect for it. I used a feed from the Aux socket no need to cut it use strippers that just peel back the insulation. Sure I have some pictures will see if I can find them.

Ted, just to confirm - the NAV5 unit has no outputs or connections on it at all. It's Bluetooth only - not great, but apparently the plug in connections are the weak spot. Still, think I'd have preferred the choice!

I tried the blue tooth route when I first got this bike with a Scala Rider G4 and found that at any thing over about 60 mph the volume was to low for me ( I do always wear plugs and I'm getting old so hearing is declining) the ability to talk to other riders was poor compared to the old Autocom set up, sometimes when playing music for an extended period the System would stop working completely and could only be rectified by waiting a while then rebooting the G4 (this was in whilst touring in Europe last year and was very hot) and disliked having to remember to charge the G4 every night. I did look at drilling a hole in the BMW mount which was possible but meant that to remove or fit the Sat Nav I would have to fiddle about plugging in cables. Because of these things I decided to go back to the old hard wired system

There is now a new blue tooth dongle from Autocom that has a volume control

Have fitted a couple on new LC with NavIV but as you say Nav V(5) no output. Nav Vdose however work well with the new Autocom BTM-02A unit and much less sensitive to position and easier to set up than the old unit. Best combination so far has been a new Logic system with hard wire Bike to Bike through a Kenwood Protalk and bluetooth to satnav and phone. Worst thing is fitting the PTT switch as its very close to the rotary control.

For reference, I've located two pre-installed unused plugs from the wiring loom, without removing any bodywork etc.
The first is above the RHS radiator and looks to be power ( believed to be the feed for a second Aux power socket) and the second is tucked into the RHS metal framework for the front end. It has a spare tail emerging from a one into two join plug, the other side of which goes to the Sat NAV mount. Not sure what this is, possibly not power ( a blue and a white wire).
Think Ill be using the Autocom relay from the battery, with a trigger wire for my comms system power...

was this on a GS or a GSA?
