I'd like to fit connectors to an Optimate charger to my 1100.

I can access the left hand terminal on the battery by removing the seat etc but the right hand one seems covered by what looks like a protective rubber cover that doesn't want to come off.

I need better access to investigate but the bloody tank is in the way.

Being an 1100 newbie, does the tank loosen off without complete removal to allow better access ?

Why not just put a DIN plug on the end of your Optimate and plug it into the accesory socket?

Ebay item 270516167992 (but you can buy both ends in Maplins for about five quid - but get the polarity right!!)

What Greg says is the option I use but if you want to get at the battery pop the tank off, it's too restrictive other wise.

Remove the right side black panel. disconnect the fuel lines (quick release connectors), breather pipes and the electrical connector, the tanks held by a single bolt on the right side just watch out for the nut and the spacers so you don't lose them.

JUst lift the tank and slide it back from the forward mounts.

Best not done with a full tank BTW. :augie

Take off the black plastic cover on the right hand side under the tank. Just pulls off.

6mm allen key (front) and 13mm spanner (behind) to undo the bolt holding the tank down.

The tank should just rise up around 4 inches without having to undo any of the hoses. I tend to place a plastic cup just on top of the battery and sit the tank on it.

Might help get get access to the positive terminal

Thanks guys.

Just ordered that plug from ebay.

And for the time you do lift the tsnk up, best have the balance cable piccies ready to have a look at ;)

For extra accessories, BM do a nice extension lead and bracket so the pillion can have a power socket too. Just piggy backs into the one by your left foot.
