In a Remote area apparently.
Someone asked for a step by step guide to fitting LED headlight units, well here is my guide, hope its useful to someone.

Using a T30 Torx bit remove the indicators, behind those you will find two more bolts one either side that hold the headlight in place, remove these.

Then remove the two plugs that go into the light unit. Sorry this pic is out of focus

Remove headlight unit being careful to unplug the sidelight bulb.

Remove the bulb covers that are at the back of the unit.

Remove the bulbs being careful not to break the spring clip mountings.

You should have downloaded fitting instructions from the website re how to fit these units as it is possible to fit them incorrectly.

It take a bit of fiddling to fit the rubbers correctly but straight forward enough.

The end result should look like this

Refit the headlight unit which is just the reverse of removing it and this is the result first dip only then main.

Total time taken....30 mins. Cheers, Del

Cheers Del. Is there a noticeable difference? (Difficult to tell from the picture)

'Twas me who asked for the "step by step" thanks very much, it's perfect. Next step is to get the LED's for the spot lights. Have you ridden it in the dark yet, what are they like???

Thanks again for going to the trouble.

Good guide for those who've never done it before. I've HID's but those look like an interesting alternative.
A footnote to anyone doing the same thing. Don't forget to reset the time on the clock when you've finished. Don't ask how I know.

I'd suggest you re-think this. Those fisheye lenses on the aux lights significantly hamper the ability to throw a decent beam of light regardless of whether you are using halogen, LED or HID. An after-market spotlight will give you a much better outcome in my experience.:thumb

Only fitted them this morning so haven't had the bike out in the dark. But given the brightness in the daylight id say they will be bloody bright in the dark.

What kit is this?
Where can I order it?
I had some LED bulbs in before and they were rubbish.

Ted I don't know anything about those but there is a stand alone box like a ballast with those. The one I used are totally self contained as per the pics in my post. Mine were a little more expensive but come with a kit for a neat fitment.

I'd be interested in how the LED has affected the dip beam cut off.

I have my dipped wound up as high (on the verge of pee'ing people off) as it means the main beam which can't be adjusted independently has some range.

Re the comments on the fog lights, I quite like them I find they have a good cut of which means you can adjust them up to the same line as the dipped beam and they throw light nice and wide which is great for peripheral vision on the back lanes

Ok Yours do look a lot better without the wires and boxes being stashed somewhere.:thumby:

Will these fit the 1150gs?

so did you try them last night?!

I've had one in my main beam for a while and used it daily down dark unlite back roads/lanes - It's very good, I've not been tempted to go LED for the dipped beam because I find that and the fogs as standard work well - you just need to adjust them both up as high as you dare

I test rode the new Honda AT with its LED headlights in the dark and the lights on that are very impressive, riding home on the GS with its LED main you could see that it did not have the engineered/well designed cut of and spread of the Honda but I did not feel the I was missing much. In fact it confirmed what a great UG this is.

I'd be interested to hear what it's like in th dip, my thoughts are it will provide too much bright white light in the foreground and distract you from looking into the distance

yes, I've read carefully your previous thread about your bike conversion and how you don't want to convert the dipped beam, hence why I'm keen to know from Delboy what his low beam conversion is like on the road
