Is there anyone who can suggest the best way of fitting the Zumo 550 to a 1200GS... I got it for Christmas, and I see there are two locations on the bars... one in the middle, and the other through the clutch control bracket.

Which of the two works best... or is there only one option etc??

Many thanks

Welcome to the site:thumb2

There are loads of threads about this - just use the search option on the toolbar above.

Personally I like the Migsel mount. Get the billet ally one that sits in front of the screen, not some naff ball-mount thing. :o)

I use a motorrad concepts mount with Ram fittings.

Video taken today shows the mount above the clocks.

One option

I'm using the Touratech HI GPS mount.

Gets it up above the clocks & stable off road.
I found the Ram mounts vibrated loose on gravel & dirt roads

Mine is mounted on the left hand side, with the u-bolt just below the handlebar cross brace so the mount sits above the clutch master cylinder. Enough to be in your eyeline when needed, easy to switch screens etc with your left hand.

Try Alder

They advertise their mounts on Ebay and also have their own website. Owned and run by the Edinburgh BMW Dealer, their mounts are very similar to Migsel or Motorrad Concepts, who I'm not sure is in business any more ?

Ball mount supplied with the Zumo, mounted on the screen mount bar, left of centre, simple and visible.

I've had mine there for a 6000 mile jaunt round Europe, and no problems at all.

I agree that it looks the part, and have one myself, but it weighs a ton. It's also much wider than the 550, probably more suited to the 660 widescreen
It could do with being lighter. I'd prefer not to have unnecessary weight so much above the CoG.

I suppose if your one of those who loads it up with TT farkles its pretty insignificant though.

+1 :D

Zumo mount etc

Thanks guys... I have the Zumo supplied mounting kit, so will try that first... seems that it works...
If it doesn't work to satisfaction, then will try the alternatives...

One more question... which is the best way to connect to the electrics???

Do I need to thread the cable back to the battery, or is there a better way etc?
Thanks again in anticipation
