Fitting Tyres

Tyres off eBay ,fit your own etc etc,
Then you wonder why when you need the services of a local bike shop you find they’ve all closed.
How about the notion of supporting small local businesses

I went to my nearest dealer. Had to sign a disclaimer that if he damaged anything that he wouldn’t be held responsible. Also told that if there was any difficulty I’d be changed extra. Bike was 6 months old. I nearly always did my own and after my experience that’s what I’ll continue to do. JJH

I took my lovely shiny new Borrani rims to Russ Tyres. He fits tyres all day, every day, and really likes to work on ‘interesting’ stuff. I watched, while he took great care to fit tubes, tapes and tyres, and balanced the wheels, and cleaned his thumb prints off the rims. He found some good quality stainless valve caps that he “keeps for the special jobs”.

I gave him a few quid, we had a nice chat and I left him in peace. I’m pretty hopeful that with a few more customers like me, he’ll still be there next time.

I used to use my local shop. And I found the price acceptable.
However, as the one-man bussines expanded, I started to notice that every time I got a wheel in return, there where fresh nicks in the rim.
Also, the price wenr up.
We (including 3 mates) then bought a Nomar tire changer. The cost was saved within 1 season.
As already mentioned it's a bit of technique, however nothing that qualifies for tha Nobel prize.
Balancing is performed with a coned shaft for static balance. Never had any issues by diy the tires.

Just put a set on the lC, i like em its my second pair first on hexhead, now on LC

How do you find the TrailRiders, can they be compared to other tyres.
