Hi All. Just a post that might help others in the future. Bike 2019 R1250RT. Went to take him out and didn’t really want to start. New battery last year. Bike not used much. Ctek charger applied regularly showing battery in tip top condition. Rode and filled up. Wouldn’t start. Battery seemed flat. Waited, tried a few time then suddenly we had a running engine. However the dash was completely blank. Needles were also not fully set, rev showing 500 and Speedo say 20. Also no indicators or power to moving screen. Rode to Bahnstormers (local dealer). Had a chat. Disconnected the battery, reconnected; exactly the same. I might add after a 15 mile run the bike leapt into life on the start button. Spoke to technician who said take the battery fully out, then join the positive and negative leads that were on the bike together. Fifteen minutes later battery back on and full dash working. I think he said it sorts of completes the circuit and reboots everything. So pleased. Bahnstormers were great. No charge, they were just happy to help. Thought I’d post this solution in case it happens to others. Ride safely…

Might be why my 2019GSA sometimes has similar starting issues even with a full battery.

I'm amazed that you managed to get the battery back in in under 15 minutes :ROFLMAO:

But thanks for that tip!

You're welcome. I was more of an observer holding the coffee whilst my mate cursed and trapped his fingers. He likes doing that sort of stuff.. :)

Just to confirm, so take the battery completely off the bike.

then just touch the pos and neg cables together (so no battery in the equation)

Then put the battery back in?

That was puzzling me - does it mean that there is some sort of residual power in the bike even with the battery disconnected (a big capacitor maybe?). Otherwise how does connecting the leads do anything at all?

If you can disconnect the positive cables without removing the battery you are a magician :ninja: When you can put the battery back in and properly fit the retaining plate you are on the path to enlightenment.

I have found Nirvana after many previous attempts with my non-starting 1250. :D

Sound similar to resetting the engine light in a car but in that situation you just use a jumper lead between positive & negative on the battery

The technician joined the positive and negative cables which were on the bike together and said give it 15 minutes. It’s something to do with electrons and residual power. It’s all a bit beyond me but it worked.

Oh sorry. No battery involved. That’s completely removed.
