Broke down this morning well not actually broke down
stalled the bike and the F*** thing wouldn't start flat battery.

Can you use a booster pack on the 1200gs with canbus electrics?
Never tried it before and was a bit ware of doing so this morning.
(thanks to the car driver who stoped and offed help).

So got picked up by the AA and when I asked him the same question
he just shrugged and said don't know mate I hate bikes and just pick them
up and take them where they want to go.

Will have to replace the BMW useless battery after Xmas.

But just wondered if any one had tried starting a 1200gs with said electrics using booster packs?

No problem whatsoever doing a jump start.

There is a section on how to do this in the Riders's Manual. :thumb2

Had to jump start my original 1200 when the battery under similar circumstances and it was not a problem.

When it comes to replacement have a look at the Odessey battery for the bike. :thumb

Thanks

Cheers for that didn't want to jump straight in this morning
and I know it's OK. with most bikes but having CanBus on board just was note sure
and didn't want to take the chance.

It will be a new battery.:bow

CAN bus = Controller Area Network

This merely connects the computers on your bike to allow them to pass data messages between themselves. A bit like a LAN in an office only without the dodgy e-mails.

Nodes:

ZFE
ECU (Bosch BMS-K)
Instrument panel
ABS unit (if fitted)
Alarm unit (if fitted)

Its the ZFE that does all the lights, heated grips, odometer, key chip authentication (EWS), etc.

:blagblah Do I get my prize now? :)

Prize????

Don't know about prize but will a thanks do.

Cheers for all the help.

Definately worthy of a prize. :thumb2

Were you running a lot of accessories at the time? Seems a little unusual if you managed to start the bike initially, and then rode it for a while, and then it wouldn't start. Suggests the battery lost charge while the engine was running/stalled rather than gained charge.
