It's a bright sunny day in the blackcountry so I got my bike gear on and headed out on the highway,then headed back again as I had a screw sticking out of my front tyre.if I hadn't got the tyre pressure warning doo dah I wouldn't have found out until the bars started shaking! at least I got the bike home and on the bench to figure out how to get the front wheel out and to discover I hadn't got the 19mm internal tool to aid removal of the spindle.thank god for Halfords, and Guinness! and its my feckin birthday!:beer:

Get yourself a Stop & Go tyre plugging kit, and a mini compressor....saves all that wheel removal rigmarole alot of the time ;)

You dont need that 19 mm gizmo to remove the wheel of an lc, happy birthday
 
.... or put some of that sloppy stuff into each wheel and you'll probably not lose more than a pound or two of pressure

That's what I hoped last Sunday .......but a monster woodscrew in at a horrible angle scuppered that plan :blast added some rat tails to the puncture kit now as they would have done as a temporary repair.
 
got it fixed and back on the bike,sorry if its been done to death,if I fit optimate wires direct to the battery can I power a airman pump or similar without upsetting the can bus,and if so does it need to be used with the ignition off? I have a bit of a mental block on this as I'm probably been over careful :)as i don't want to ruin me new bike!
 
Lead straight from the battery via a fuse will be fine,the problem using the canbus controlled socket is that the system will see the load of the compressor which is higher than its happy with and shut off the power to the socket.
 
Only 325 miles before my rear picked up a nail,last October.....
Quick plug repair so I could enjoy the day.
Next morning out to the garage for a proper repair to get the full life out of the tire.

I've used the rat's tails repair kit 4 or 5 times over the last few years and the "temporary" repairs have lasted until the tyre needed replacing. This has been on Conti, Bridgestone and Michelin PR3 and PR4s. And I rode as usual, including loaded 2 up at times and at spirited Autobahn and Autostrada speeds at times too. These repairs were in the mid area of the tread and straightforward nails/screws. Only time I couldn't fix it was a jagged bit of metal which made a really untidy tear in the tread - had to replace the tyre.

I've been doing more miles over the last 5 years but I never remember getting so many punctures through the 80s and 90s - is there more rubbish on the road?
 
Hmmm, Dynaplug Vs Rats tails??

I've used rats tails but there's a reamer and the separate needle needed, Dynaplug looks like just one compact tool. I've used rats tails on car tyres and most have been fine for life of tyre, I think the gunk on the tail tends to scrape off on the hole and help seal. The Dynaplug looks like one quick operation but I wonder is it as effective?
