I purchased my 1200gs new in Jan 08 and it now has 10000 on the clock. I have been noticing more and more recently that under hard acceleration there is what I would describe as a 'miss', and I've just realised its around the 4500rpm mark and is the flat spot that has been mentioned on this forum. Under normal acceleration it is hardly noticable but under hard acceleration it is quite a jolt. This cant be doing the internal mechanics any good and wondered if this might be the cause of later problems i.e dropped valves etc?
In any case I think it is time to get rid of the 'cat' as I believe this cures this problem and will be kinder on the engine.
Just my thoughts, Adrian.

The slight drop in power at around 4500 is quite normal on the 1200.

De catted headers will help with this but not eliminate it completely. Our Keihan headers certainley go a long way to improve the situation.

To totally eliminate it, you would proberly have to have a complete new system, K&N filter and power commander which would cost you a minimum of a £1000 for those goodies.

Keihan headers also give you an @ 5bhp hike in power and a boost to low end torque which is where you need it on a GS:thumb

And just to say to the viewers that would include many other manufacturers and not just the aforementioned:thumb2

To add my 2 cents worth Adrian if you are going to go ahead with the headers the Keihan stuff is the best I have ever come across.

I had an R65 that had a full set of Keihan's on it and I sold that bike with 225k on it and without a shadow of a doubt the best thing on it were the Keihan's and they never gave me a single problem in all those miles.

Superb pipes that I would recommend without a shadow of a doubt the stuff they make will outlast the bike, absolutely brilliant pipes.

Ps I have NO affiliation with Bilco, just credit where credit is due.
