Back on the road
Decided to buy a new rear drive (has a cast disc hanger and the lower drain plug). Still getting the original rebuilt so will have a spare (3 HPs in Morocco later in year - will it be needed?
)It's been an expensive few weeks
But now with brand new rear end should be OK for another 45000 miles

When my new rear drive came it appeared to have oil already in it. So just bolted on and away
However, little niggling doubts in my mind as to whether it had correct amount in there. A call to BMW failed to resolve - they used to prefill, but don't now (cos of breather).
So before my 250 mile commute I decided to drop the oil and refill. 170cc's came out and went back in (dropped cold - so probably about right). Very smelly oil they use.
Did notice though that the magnetic simp plug was full of swarf (after only 50 miles!) - hopefully just "bedding in" swarf. Oil change at 600 miles me thinks.

Is that a straight swap? I thought, with the brake mount in a different place, it wasn't
