I've searched through the forums for this issue and a couple of people seem to have had it but no solution mentioned. Just wondering if anyone does know a fix? Both the headlight and parking light flicker intermittently with the bike parked up key out and steering lock on. I starting to think this could be the reason for my battery issues earlier this year. I've disconnected the battery for now. Any help appreciated.

Flickering Light

When I first got my GS in 06 I had it back to the dealers lots of times for a flickering headlight. They never found an answer to the problem but I did manage to replicate the circumstances for the flickering which was reset by disconnecting the battery earth. The problem was also referred to Germany with no solution or reason found. I believe the problem is linked to the canbus system. It would only occur if I used my Streetpilot sat nav via the auxilliary socket. I cured this by disconnecting the power socket from the canbus and wiring it direct to the battery via a fuse of course. Hey presto no more flickering lights. Im sure I read somewhere about canbus connected sockets requiring certain electrical loads to power up the socket etc, the sat nav woul use a very low amperage and possible just enough to confuse the computers.
Why couldn't they just leave a proper wiring harness with fuses etc
Anyway hope this helps

Yeah - I thought it might be my Garmin Quest cradle but I have it wired directly to the battery with a fuse. Just came back from a 2 hr freeway stretch and keeping an eye out my window for any more flickering.
