Hi,

Can anyone recommend a mid price range flip front helmet?
Id prefer a quiet one if possible and the addition on an inbuikt flip down tinted visor would be nice.
What is everyone using on here and what are your thoughts on it?

Cheers

Garry

Using Shark Evoline 3, only flip I've ever had but it was ideal on trip through to Monaco, it is accredited to use in both open and closed positions and I enjoyed both.
It has been fitted with Sena SMH10 intercom and is quiet enough to use and listen to intercom /music/phone.
I did find that the provided speaker recesses are not ideally placed rfor my ears - could be a family thing....
Sun visor included

Currently using a Caberg Sintesi

+ves - also OK to use in open position (front locks up very simply); one-handed operation is a breeze from up or down locked positions; internal sun visor; with pinlock fitted never mists (I had to remove the chin curtain to achieve this but this is no loss); sleek, simple design; optional bluetooth kit (Caberg Just Speak - comes in various models - make sure you get the right one!) which actually fits into the helmet design and works (for me) very well indeed; relatively quiet - I wear ear plugs all the time and can still hear music through them.

-ves - not light (1740 gms) in medium shell size, more for larger sizes, internal sun visor gets a bit 'sticky' over time and smeared when it rains; water gathers in chin piece so when you raise it on a wet day you get two waterfalls down each side of you! And ventilation could be better designed in my view, but is acceptable.

Biggest downside is that it is now discontinued so some sizes and colours are v. difficult to source and the replacement (Duke) is nowhere near as well-designed. I like mine so much I'm having real difficulty finding anything else that can eventually replace it - so much so that I'm seriously considering buying a spare while/if I still can to keep until needed. RRP is about £225 but if you're interested PM me and I'll give you details for someone who will do a deal (assuming he can source your colour/size requirements).

I really wanted a Shoei Neotec but couldn't afford it. SO bought a Caberg Justissimo instead. I haven't been disappointed.

Another vote for a shark evoline, although mine is a evoline2 ,which cost me £160 a real bargain.First flip helmet i have had but couldn't recommend it enough.Being able to flip it right over to the back and turn it into a jet helmet is a great idea,no wind resistance.

I have a Caberg Duke that I'm very happy with. Not the lightest but not too heavy either plus it's certified for both open and closed positions when riding which is a bonus.

Evoline 3 for me. While 1700+gm seems heavy, my mates Arai RX racing is well over 1600 so not too bad all considered.

I have a Schuberth C3 which is quite luxurious, I use this as my touring lid and have my autocom stuff in it.

I also have a HJC R-Pha Max, this is also a great lid and a bit cheaper than the Schuberth, it was my first choice, but found (for me) I could not get the Autocom speakers comfy, it lacks the huge pocket area of the C3.

The HJC is extremely light and "airy" so I use it for solo blats and when I don't need coms.

Both are great lids, and if it were not for the Autocom issue I would have been 100% happy with the HJC.

Got a great deal on mine from Chainspeed when buying a load of other stuff. The Schuberth I got at the NEC show for a LOT less than list price.

+1....really pleased with mine.....and the missus with hers..

Just done 2700 miles in 12 days...perfect at 35 degrees!!!!

C3

I would never go down the C3 route again, or another Schuberth come to that.
Visor ratchets wear out, it won't stay up over 30mph, I'm on 3rd set.
Ventilation is poor even with the internal flaps open, put the front up and there's none.
They leak water down the inside of the visor, even if you have the modified seal put in.
Intercom battery life is anywhere between poor and dreadful, depending on wether its a good battery or a bad one but they can't sort it out.
3 out of 4 people I ride with regularly have binned them, mostly for neotec's.
It's fairly quiet and flip up for custom's control is good but way too expensive plus all the above.
Looking for another flip myself, need to try the main dealers when i have time, they do have deals sometimes.
In the mean time, it's my tourX & ear plugs for me :thumb2

Had schuberth c3 - could never get on with it. Found that the ear spaces were not the right shape for me and also that there was an odd pressure point on the forehead - heard others say the same. In its favour though, it is pretty quiet.

Got a Neotec now - for me, amazing - best helmet I've owned.

I have had a Caberg Justissimo, two Schuberth C3s a now a Shoei Neotec - the Caberg was a bit crap in caparison to the Schuberth which I though was the dog's bollocks until I bought the Neotec which is the best to date by a fair margin.

I have tried on a few of the mid-range ones but they all seem a bit second rate compared to the Schuberth C3 and Shoei Neotec.

The BMW system 6 looks good but just doesn't fit my head.
