Can anyone recommend a Quiet flip front helmet? I've got a Caberg Justisimo helmet and quite frankly I think it's crap. It's extremely noisy, even when wearing ear plugs. So i'm on the lookout for a quiet replacement. Is here such a thing as a quiet flip front ? Someone told me the BMW lid is pretty quiet? I've had a look at Nolan etc, all look very nice but the trouble is you don't know what it's really like till you get it out on the road so who's got what and do you rate it? :nenau

Try the Schuberth C3,it comes out the quietest in all the tests.
They are not cheap but you get what you pay for,as Bell helmets once said."If you have got a 5 dollar head buy a 5 dollar hat" Shoei Multi is another good bet IMO.

FWIW I have a Shoei multitech which is quiet, but not as quiet as my last helmet, a BMW system 4.

shark evoline, its a brilliant helmet, wouldnt change mine for the world

:augie FWIW I have a Nolan, think its a N103 dam site quieter than the AGV I had :blast, have worn it for half a day at motorway speeds with no problems :thumb, and I suffer with tinnitus which is triggered by loud noises!

Nolan N90 for me, had a HJC and the nolan was a revelation after that, but not everyone is the same, i took Hein Gerick up on an offer that was on when the N90 came out, for a deposit i could try the helmet for a few hours to make my mind up..dont know whether the offer is still on though?

I am wearing a BMW system 6 at the moment and have to say its pretty darn quiet.......

I've got a Shoei Multitech for regular use and an old XR1000 full face tucked away. They weigh more or less the same and noise levels are just about the same for me in either.

I would not consider a C3 or BMW flip front because of all the bad press. How often do you hear negative reports on the Multitich - hardly ever.

How do you get on with the weight of it, as at 1.9kg it is a hefty helmet?

to be honest I have never noticed, its a helmet, fits very well, very quite as helmets go, very comfortable, put on ride. Until you mentioned it I had no idea what it weighed, not somthing I have every bothered to look at with a crash hat I have so much difficulty in finding what I wanted out of a crash helmet, ie, flip front, chin bar that stays out the way at the back, sun visor, etc, so not only for me is it a good helmet its the only one that ticks all the boxes.

Thanks for all the responses. they are all helmets I've been thinking of bu its good to have real life opinions on how good they are. Salesmen and brochures will all claim to be the best ever. I'll try them all out and hopefully I'll find one that fits my head.:clap

I had picked one up a few months ago and noticed the weight immediately, so it was interesting to hear how you got on with it. Thanks for the response:thumb2

shoei multitech

I got one of these last month - much quieter than my xr1000. An added bonus is that I can swap over visors between the two. If you can wait you'll get one much (much) cheaper at the bmf !

Multitech

I had a nice Multitech and thought it a pretty good helmet.
I only really noticed the weight when I swapped over to an open-faced Arai on summer days.

After a few months it always felt like it didn't quite fit, squashing my head in the fore/aft direction.

So I ditched it for an Arai Chaser (winter) and Arai SZ/F (summer).

I tried the Schubeths but they didn't close over my chin. The BMw helmets were the same. Nolans weren't wide enough.

Arai fitted.
I think the fit matters most!

SHARK EVO LINE 2

If you are looking for a flip front you can ride with it open then the evoline is the one it is a little heavy and it isn the quietest on the market, quieter than the caberg i used to own, but when you ride with it open it is brilliant, I ride 400miles to work from north wales to shetland and always us the evoline that said get the evoline 2 it is way improved over the first one, for me an open face helmet is the real deal, how ever when it wazzes down it is good to be able to pull it closed.
