Hi guys,

I’d like to fit OEM fog lights to my 1250GS, but not sure where they would mount? It seems the GSA one mount on the upper crash bars which I don’t have.

Anyone have pics of OEM 1250GS fogs fitted?

Also anyone got a link to the OEM kit so I can buy it?

Cheers

It is far easier to go to the dealer and do a deal to get them fitted, because they have to activate them for you, otherwise they do not work, the new Nano one,s are really good.

Here you go, a photograph of my 1250 with an OEM light kit I fitted myself.

I fitted them myself for two reasons: about £100 cheaper; I like fiddling with my bike.
As part of the purchase deal, the lights will be coded by the dealership for free as part of the first service.

Great thanks. Do you have a link to the kit?

Ring your favorite BMW dealer and quote the part number shown above. Also ask for a print out of the step by step fitting instructions.

depends why you want the lights. TBH I find the headlight bright enough to see at night without any problems. If you are wanting to be seen more you don't have to go mad
I got some light that sell on e-bay for £6 delivered... I know, you'd just expect crap for that, but they have been on 3 bikes now and work a treat!.. 5 watts each so a good light output.
I got a relay and switched it from the 3 min supply under the seat and put an extra switch on the bars... so they come on with the ignition if switched on, and go off after 3 mins of switching off :)

I'm also not keen on additional light all over the place so tucked them away under the beak... out of the way, can't get bashed, but get you seen and add some light for night time driving... and change out of £20 :)

I agree the standard lights are excellent, but being seen more is a bonus. I really like what you’ve done here, and the price appeals to me as a Scotsman! Curious as to how the lights are mounted? Do you have the eBay link?

I put the BMW ones on my last Gs at a cost of about £380 with me doing the fitting, dealer activating them for free at service.

But on my current GS I couldn’t see the point in spending that again, so I bought the Chinese copy nano’s for £45, copy plastic GS Bracket for £30. Accepting that a good friend gave me a hex ez can last year he didn’t want (let’s say £130), 10 pairs of ez can plugs off eBay £6, total £211 and about 3 hours.

The functionality is great, alternate with hazards, pick your brightness day and night, strobe with horn, side off when indicator on, strobe with main beam if flashing. Switch on and off with turn indicator held in for 3 seconds.

They are as bright as the oem they look identical and they do a lot more than the oem, and if one fails I won’t worry about spending £45 for two spares. I get why people want the OEM but this time I took a bit of a punt and for half the price I’m delighted with the result.

Thanks guys. I want them for more visabilty both your guys setups look and sound great. Have you got links to the stuff you used?

nothing, works a treat.. I just don't get £380 plus fitting, plus activation... on a set of lights??.. I'd not have them at that price for sure!! :eek

Can someone recommend a dealer I could email that would give me a good deal on the light kit? Jefferies are quoting £475 for parts alone!!

Also if I do go down the OEM route. Can I add a EZCan to the bike so I can have the extra functions but with the OEM lights?
