Fog vs Driving Lights

Hi all,

I should be buying my GS this coming week and I have been following the forum for a few weeks already.
I have noticed people are converting the Micro DE and the FF50 driving lights to HID's.
I have a simple question...Aren't the FF50's plus the main beam enough to get noticed by cars? Why do I have a feeling that the fog lights will get me into trouble?
Every time I turn my car's fog lights on I have police telling me off.
I would appreciate some advice.

IIRC fog lights on cars can only be used in fog or when it's snowing.

Most people run fogs to create a "triangle of light" and are run all the time. FF50's come in spots or fogs so you wouldn't want to be running the spot version permanently as they don't have a light cut off

I find most of my customers want a more light footprint and the triangle of light to be seen, so opt for the DE's with the fog/drive pattern, some want more light on the high beam only so then the FF50's are the choice in spot light, don't do many of the FF50 fogs unless its a four light kit on the 1150, most are happy with the DE result and find the spots are not used enough.

If you really want to beef up the lights then we stock these now and boy do they work

Nearly correct, except that cars are not specified. as I recall, the general requirement is:

Foglights may only be used in conditions of fog or falling snow, when visibility is less than 200 metres.

Their general function is to blind people, rub up other road users the wrong way, and generate fines for their illegal users, who, as rednecks, think it is "Cool" to drive around with them on.

If they extinguish automatically when you dip, they are. as you say, driving lights.

If they stay on with dip beam or sidelights, the manual is bollocks, they are classified as foglights.
