... to retain the centre stand.

Or, alternatively titled. 'Here is another gratuitous shot of my sexy exhaust, but disguising it by making it a technical issue'

Two disadvantages of this system is the belief that you have to lose the bash plate and the centre stand.

1st is true. 2nd can be overcome by cutting off the crosspiece and welding another one lower down the stand. See photo.

Who needs a bashplate when you have this truly horny piece of pipework.

Access to the engine for cleaning is fantastic. And since it is in 7 deliciously sprung together bits, it comes off in a jiffy for oil changes.

thats made for a gs or a rockster?, bit of a pain in the ass if you have to take it to bits to work on general maintenance?

Its a pain in the ass having to remove sexy clothing from a woman prior to 'maintainance'. Its easier to rip off her pair of nylon knickers to gain access.

But ultimately, the former is worth the effort and will give more satisfaction.

Anyhoo ... all I have to do is loosen her springs and gently ease the tubes apart. Then I can get my fingers in.
You folk with the 'nylon knicker' sump plate, still have to get the spanners out.

I had an option on one of these systems a few years ago, but did a trial fitting & decided it wasn't worth it. I was going to lose the centrestand (I can't weld) & also the facility to refit my engine bars. They look fantastic though & yours looks very tidy, Den.

I’ve had the same system fitted to my 1150 for the last 2000 miles. I didn’t have to remove or modify the centre stand at all. I’d like to see some further pix of the end can mounting point if possible. I’ve had a complete nightmare with mine.

Bike does feel much better though doesn’t it?

Here ye go.

There are two springs which I have not fitted yet, between the can and the pipe. Or are you referring to the bracket onto the pillion footrest hangers ?

Thanks Den but it was the mounting bracket that I wanted to see – the bit that mounts to the pillion peg hanger. Mine’s fallen off twice so would be interested to see if yours looks the same:)

Never got one with the system so just made a 'temporary' one from stainless.

Thanks Den. Your home made bracket looks a lot better than the POS that Laser thought to supply with the system. As mentioned, my bracket fell off twice – resulting in the system being held on with nothing more than the header bolts. This then resulted in the system cracking near the headers which now needs welding. Consequently the system is removed for repair over winter.

I’d be interested to hear how you get on with the system. I found that the exhaust can melted my rear indicator and number plate. I fixed the plate issue by fitting a smaller plate but ended up having to remove the exhaust side indicator altogether which wasn’t ideal.

I still think it looks great and sounds amazing:)

Here’s a pic of mine before it fell apart!

Maybe the stand whacking off the pipes and resting on them have contributed to your probs. Remote, but a possibility.

I am toying with a plan to make a bracket between the bashplate mounts and round the pipes for additional support. The system is very lightweight, but as you mentioned, only supported at the headers and the can.

The lugs on the adventure are different to a standard 1150 though, so I dont think you have them.

Your tailpipe exit bit seems to be at a steeper angle than mine. Maybe I wont have melting problems. I will let you know.
