Fork corrosion

I was cleaning my 1150GS yesterday and I noticed that my fork legs are showing signs of corrosion (on the lower silver bits). The paint has started to bubble up, it doesn't look too bad at the moment but I know from experience that it won't take long to deteriorate. Has anyone else experienced this? The bike's 18 months old so hopefully should be covered under warranty, what are BMW like with dealing with corrosion warranty claims?

yep - they all do that! had my last fork brace replaced under warranty and i'm now waiting for the current one to start bubbling too!

this love affair with the gs is growing thin....wheels that rot; fork braces that corrode before your eyes; indifferent and expensive dealer servicing; 8k for an alledged go round the world machine which has so many obvious design faults is a bit rich. the upsetting thing is, if the bee eem badge was on a car, the problems would either not be there in the first place, or designed out by the second year. in a nut shell, not good enuff mr bmw.
