Does anyone know if the fact that one of my fork seals (1150 GSA) is leaking will mean that the bike is an MOT fail?

I've got to get the MOT done next week and wondering if I need to make sure I get it sorted this weekend.

Cheers

i'm pretty sure a leaking fork seal is an MOT failure.

wipe before test ;)

It's only a 5 min job to change. Do a search :thumby:

Quick wipe with a rag when you get off the bike - there is no way they'll notice I bet, unless they test ride it over a speed bump at 60mph!

Reasons for failure (Front Suspension):

3. Oil leakage indicating failure of the seal.

from here:

However it probably depends how bad and whether the damping is affected as I've had a bike with USD forks pass even though the seal was weeping.

Damping won't be affected, the only job of the seals is to stop the oil used to lube the stanchions from escaping!

Yeah as above. Leaking fork seal is an MOT failure but wipe with a rag beforehand and you'll be fine. The oil in the forks is only used for lubrication and doesn't actually effect the suspension performance but you can't expect an MOT monkey to know that:)

It's a failure - and not just due to suspension purposes - the oil can run down and contaminate the brake pads.
