Does anyone know if the small casting which caters for calliper, abs sensor and wheel spindle comes off the aluminium tube? It is defo two separate parts with a screw going upwards from inside the wheel spindle hole.
I have a damaged casting and have bought a second hand slider but the tube part is pitted so I would like to change the casting only. P.s. it's a r1200gs. Any ideas PLEASE.:beerjug:

If you look here http://www.realoem.com the parts diagram shows the fork slider as one unit. So they can't be bought separately - only a vice and a huge stiltson wrench will tell you if they actually separate.

Thanks Alan, I have got a big vice and some 48"stillys, to be honest I would like to try a more softly softly approach. The screw (m8x25) going upwards is not a drain type screw so there has got to be a way

They might be bonded with super strength anaerobic adhesive with the little M8 just to line things up.

If they are bonded some heat may well shift them.

I'm a broken record on this but another option is mask up the legs and have the casting anodised or powder coated.
