When I changed from my last GS800 to R1200 telelever front forks it was not a big change, I was OK with the Upside down forks of 2012. I was expecting the White power forks to be better but its come as a bit of a shock to find quite how poor they are. Apart from lots of money the only solution seems to be a change of springs and oil.
I was suspecting a fault in the forks, now its run in I gave it a good run over a rough north Yorkshire road and at the end I thought the front tyre was flat, it was picking up every groove and bump in the road and transferring through the bars. After letting the bike stand for half an hour it seems OK again.

1000 miles now and either the forks have run in or I have adjusted to them. Good run to the Peak district today and no real problems. I did a run mid week and found the bike picks up wind gusts more than the R1200GS so perhaps that was the cause of the vague feeling. They are still not as good as the std forks on my wifes GS700 but will do until I start experimenting with springs and oil.

I have just purchased a 2009 BMW F800 GS and it has Ohlins fork springs fitted. I have ridden dozens of dedicated off road bikes and for the weight of the GS i can find no problem with the forks on my bike yet.

I think the 2009 F800GS had Showa forks, I suspect they got White Power to develop a budget fork so they could pay in Euros to shield themselfs from fluctuations with the Yen. I have got used to the forks now and they seem to have bedded in but I did expect a bit more from such a specialist manufacturer.
