Four Day Dolomites(?!) Tour - Fly and Bike Hire

Throwing in another (very trusted) rental in the mix:

Used it myself before (I’ve known the owner for ages through a bike forum) and too notch service.

They have a few different locations.

One can get to the Dolomites in a day from Munich. Wizz down to Innsbruck then over the Brenner.

The BMW dealer in Munich hires bikes.

One would need to talk to the Motorrad Hotels which house part of BMW "Press" fleet, to check whether they will give a cast-iron guarantee that the bike of one's will be available.

Okay so this is exactly what we did in the end: https://romaniamotorcycletours.com/tour/transfagarasan-famous-guided-tour/

It ticked the box for us as we've both got young kids and couldn't take too much time away.

Took the 8PM flight from Heathrow to Bucharest getting us in at 1AM local time, straight to the hotel and lay in on Saturday morning. Decent hotel.

Then had the day around town, went to a shooting range to have a go on 9mm pistols because why not:

Not my best target card, but good fun!

Local wines and assorted Sausages saw off the first day:

Day two, first day of riding we catch an Uber to the rental place, pick up two great condition 1250gs's and meet our guide, it was just the two of us and Christie, an ex military man who became first an instructor, then a guide with the company.

First two hours where pretty much straight roads, not too exciting, but after that we started heading further away from the city and the mountains got closer and roads most interesting

Stop off at a WW1 memorial and a spot of lunch:

Ending the day in, and visting more pretty sights, Curtea de Argeș.

The next day we headed for the pass, having been warned about the bears by the side of the road, we saw three lots of bears, including some cubs. Naturally I did not stop for a photo

Photos do not do it justice here!!

Pretty knackered at the end of this day, a lot of concentrating and the most riding I'd ever done in one day - not surprising given it was my first tour

Off to see another Church, I might refind my faith after this trip, so many beautiful churches, this was inside the Black Church in Brasov

Last day, home via Dracula's castle (apparently, though my Romanian colleague tells me it's all a load of hot air)

Ride back to the city, and hand the bikes back. I'd share more pictures but you get the idea!!

Flight back at 8AM the following morning, home by noon local time.

Overall, if you've only got a few days to spare It's a fantastic trip, the people, food, roads, and bikes where all fantastic.
