Fournales shocks

'Ello airheaders.
Forgive the intrusion but I think a few of you have used Fournales airshocks on your bikes. I'm considering getting one for my 1100 but it's hard to find much information about them (which may mean something in itself...). If any of you have used them any feedback on them would be great.

You will need a high pressure pump which costs a small fortune if you buy the genuine one. Cycle suspension pumps will do the job and cost a fraction of the price.

I've had three or four of these units and can't say I'm a big fan. The air pressure is critical, when you get it right they give a superb ride but a couple of PSI either side and they can be awful.

Verns had one on his 1100 for years. Felt rock solid to me but then he has got some in built suspension of his own :D

I've got one on my bike (G/S), and it did take a little while to find the sweet spot.. as Rob said a couple of PSI either side and it feels either soggy or mule-like, not helped by the monolever I should imagine :rolleyes:

Quite happy with it once I got it set up right though :thumb
 
That's the problem, you're all fecking about fiddling with your suspension as usual.

I put 29 bar in mine, and that's the way it stays, cuz it said so on the box:cool:
 
I have a big box full of very good fresh dartmoor air if you want to use that to fill your shock. I'll post if for £15. It will even get you better mileage! :beerjug: :D

I've an idea (probably completely misguided) that with the shock being very close to the swingarm pivot on an oilhead, the leverage ratio might reduce its sensitivity to having the 'perfect' pressure. However I could be barking up completely the wrong tree...

Only one way to find out I guess - with the 15% discount that Paul (Nomad biker) has negotiated they're certainly a more affordable option than the Ohlins / Wilbers alternative. I'll think on it over the weekend.
