I just read the FPC failure post where it was mentioned bike cut out a couple of time first.

On Sunday mine cut out as I slowed at a junction, I thought it was just a one-off and part of the bikes "character", it has not done it before and was fine for the remaining 10 miles home.

Do they normally start by causing the odd stall, I thought they either worked or did not, if mine is on its way out I would rather get it sorted before it ruins a weekend / holiday.

Also do you have to be completely stranded before BMW will sort it on warranty :nenau

i can make mine cut out to order.

The FPC cuts a lot of the fuel off completely at a closed throttle, in an (understandable) effort to increase MPG. Get it wrong and the bike stalls.

For instance, hoon up to roundabout, drop gears in rapid succession, blipping throttle between downshifts, don't brake like some girl. You can catch the fuel feed system out, depending on the final throttle position relative to your forward motion. You can feel and hear the engine miss. Simple enough to get going as it bump starts.

You can do it by being a girl too, when you slow up at a junction. The throttle is closed (little or no fuel), the loading on the engine is wrong and the bike stalls.

Engine speed, throttle position, wheel speed: it were ever thus.

I've had a similar experience to Brother Wapping. Sometimes if you just blip the throttle quickly the engine cuts out. Varadero used to do the same and that was carbed.
