Might be of intrest to you.Got a letter from BMW informing me my 07 GSA was due upgrades and to get in touch with my local dealer(Jefferies)who tell me there are 5 upgrades to be carried out one of which is the FPC,obviosly all FOC,so it seems that i might not have to carry my spare anymore,that might just be tempting fate though!

Had my Adventure serviced a couple of days ago and indeed the FPC modification was flagged up and carried out.
Ask if you can keep the old one..

You may find that the upgrade is only deemed 'complete' if the old unit is handed back, but try as suggested to hang on to it as a spare on the bike. I have one under my seat just in case and mine's a '13 bike.

Carry a spare.. on my 2nd new fangled one...
Ask if you can keep the old one. You can keep it as a spare or butcher it to make a bypass lead. Or even sell it on here.
