All the standard GS had gloss paint finishes on the tank, beak and rear light cowl.

I wouldn't have described the grey (did BMW call it Graphitan?) on my standard GS as gloss, but I'm not about to wash the dirt off and check...

Oooh, very true, I forgot about the Graphitan colour.

Jim, if satin black hammerite smooth is not a very very close match then I'd suggest yours has been repainted so it's anyone's guess as to what colour it is. whatever it is, it didn't leave the factory with that colour imho.

It's been 15 yrs since the last 1150 rolled of the production line and unless you bought one new and still have it, anything could of been done to it paint wise.
We could be guessing for the next 15 yrs....
