i am going to tidy up my frame, it is black on a 2006 GSA, has anyone got the matching code or has anyone used hammerite (brush on) and what did it look like. carl

I've used black smooth rite to paint the bit on the frame rubbed off by the previous owners boot and also the centre stand. Blends in quite nicely.

Be sure to use satin finish Smoothrite; the gloss version is too shiny and the repainted area will stand out.

what methods of repainting do people use?

i have a few rust patches on the frame from where boots have rubbed on the surface and need to do a few touch ups myself, was thinking fine grain sand paper to get rid of the rust an crap on the frame then treat with kurust let that do its thing then a few coats of paint?

any better methods?

Hi Joe,

Exactly what I have done - steady with the brush and you tend not to notice it's been done.

Rub down with wet and dry, then black spray on smoothrite. Lovely finish, very easy. Did the rear subframe on my 1150.

I wasn't too bothered about colour matching but its turned ut to be a close match to the mainframe colour, a bit glossier but then you can't really see the main frame when the bikes reassembled so thats ok.

Hamerite

Use a spray can nice and easy and looks great, don't for get to mask unwanted bits that don't need painting used it many times looks great.
