Anyone any experience of riding in Corsica?

Always looking to vary our annual europe trip thoght about ride through France and over to Corsica. There was a piece in MSL a while ago seemed quite good but any other feedback would be good.

Is it expensive? Is there enough to see if you stay over for say 4 nights?

Thanks

Yes-reassuringly so but worth it, avoid July and August go in May or September, fantastic (largely empty) roads, wonderful people, fantastic scenery need I go on?
A group of us went in 07 we based ourselved in Calvi for 4 nights, we had Mapsource routes prepped for the whole island but didn't make it to Bonifacio and the South as we ran out of time, which is the perfect excuse to go back some day :D

Couldn't find my own report but this one is outstanding :clap

And another definate yes, four of us rode down in May this year,3 nights in Corsica ( Ajaccia) then 4 in Sardinia (Christano) and didn't see it all but had a brilliant time. The roads are a bikers heaven in on both Islands, though central Sardinia is probably the better of the two,but only just!.Not particulaly cheap but then where is nowadays,Just do it!

Corsica...fab.
The roads around the mountain capital of Corte are awesome...

I went a few years ago on an R100GS. It's a great place that I definetely will go back to.

Be prepared for bends the whole way, hardly a straight where I went.

Places to see.....................

Restonica gorge
Zonza to see a bit of inland Corsica
Filitosa
Bonifacio

Corsica is the favourite destination of Jo & I. It is extreme summer just as Val D'Isere is extreme winter.

Where I would settle if ever I won the lottery.

Pure paradise. The maquis keep it expensive, and special, by blowing up any new holiday destination!!

Thanks for the replies, our normal time for the trip is end of May so will give it some serious thought.

Thanks again

We had 6 Nights last August (yes), camping. We didn't book and had no problems getting a pitch. The campsites were a little more expensive than mainland France but not as pricey as Italy. We found all other prices eg food shopping, coffee, beer wine etc the same as France, (normal France - not the Cote d'Azure or Paris) which I was amazed at. We stopped at a little resturant well off the beaten track with views to die for. There was no competition the food was superb and it was very reasonable.

Once your away from the coast and up into the mountains there is very little traffic and the temperature is fine - 25 degrees most of the time when we were there. 1 piece of advice - if your staying on the caost leave for your rideouts early before the traffic. We were up and gone by 7.30 and would stop for a bit of breakfast around 9 - An impressive continental braekfast in the marina 5 Euros!

As everyone else has said - it's one of the best places i've ever ridden a bike.
