Any news on the first nights hotel for the May trip and/or proposed route?

Thanks

Update - One day jaunt - 25th April

One day jaunt - 25th April

I have put the route together.

It is in three legs, named (imaginatively) as Leg1, Leg2 and Leg3. I have attached a Garmin file.

Leg 1 - Magenta - is 37.5 miles from Eurotunnel to Cassel and coffee

Leg 2 - Red - is 69.8 miles from Cassel to Boulgne and lunch

Leg 3 - Green - is 24.6 miles from Boulogne to Eurotunnel and home

Total distance 131.9 miles = 132.

The different route colours show up quite well on Google Earth. If you open the file in Mapsource and click View click then click Google Earth it will open in a new window, matching the scale.

You may like to change the colours of the routes as sometimes they do not show up too well on some GPS devices. You can do this through Route Properties.

For anyone with a TomTom I will try to get the file converted.

I will make a separate route plan and post it up.

I will be riding the route in late March, just to check out any obvious glitches. Most particularly I want to re-check the road numbers and the place names signposted. There are some fairly small roads in Leg 2 but nothing off-road or unmade, that's a promise. You could ride them all on anything from a pushbike to a FireBlade.

Roll call:

Wapping
Chas M May bring son as pillion
Intermediate
Budweiser
Kev B
NC Pierce
Robin

Maybe list:
NC Pierce's brother-in-law

Any problems, questions or comments post 'em up or PM me.

Richard

PS I will now set about confirming our hotels for the longer excursion and working out the routes.

Room for two more?

Hi Wapping,

Thanks again for organizing these bimbles.

I can confirm my PM and have booked Eurotunnel for Physiojo and me with a bike each for 25 April and 22-25 May. Let us know about accommodation when you know.

Eurotunnel is a pain if you want to book multiple vehicles. Would I have done better over the phone? Ended up with four confirmations for two trips:blast. My credit card is steaming gently:D

This should be a blast. See you then.

Regards,

Path.

one dayer to French France

Hi All,

If its ok with Wapping and all the others i would like to put my name forward for the one dayer, if its fully subscribed and you have the maximum number thats cool, but perhaps i could be 1st reserve in case anyone drops out.

I could do with the practice as im giving it a go trying to sort out a trip in May.

cheers all

ONE DAY JAUNT

ONE DAY JAUNT

I rode the One Day Jaunt route today with ChasMill of this parish and have made a couple of changes.

The changes are to leg 2 and leg 3.

Leg 2:

We now finish the leg in Le Touquet, for a late lunch.

Leg 3:

We now take a short stretch of motorway to skirt Boulogne and Wimereux.

Fresh Garmin route attached.

I will try to get it converted to suite TomTom.

I will redo the Excel route plan.

Could anyone who does NOT have a GPS device let me know, please.

Richard

Hi,
I have just joined the forum today, after getting my 1200gs on Thursday and breaking down on Fri due to the FPC problem...
I have not read through all of the posts yet, but I would be interested...have you settled on a date yet?
Cheers,
Jim.

Hi Jim

Both rides are full I'm afraid.
