After 8879 miles,the Tourances on my 'runabout and rallies' 1100 were at replacement stage,and,although I was pleased with them,I prefer the Pirelli MT90 Scorpions I have on my 'best' 1100 so I called into Frank Bathers Tyres in Birkenhead yesterday to order some.
They arrived today,less than 24 hours after being ordered ( free delivery,by the way ),so I took my wheels in,and twenty minutes later was driving away with the new tyres fitted and balanced.
Cost ? £ 157 the pair.

Pleased ? Yes.

That place is just round the corner from me, and I've just taken a tyre in to see if they can repair it.

Usually buy my new tyres from Marriots in town but maybe I'll give Bathers a ring next time.

Hey, in fact, I was out in North Wales last night, and I waved at someone on a GS, maybe it was you Mind you N Wales is a big place, probably full of GSs!

Tourances @ 141 pounds [inc P+P] from Sherlocks.

Bathers to fit to a loose wheel 5 pounds/wheel [or is it 6 now?] = 151.

To be honest, I wouldn't order from Bathers. Not Tourances anyway, you can wait a long time for them not to show. At least Sherlocks will tell you if they're in stock.

Bathers only charge for fitting if you bought the tyre elsewhere
( can`t really blame them ) and then only if yer not a regular customer.

The delivery problems you mention are not the fault of Bathers, there was a big problem getting Metzelers a while ago,and Tourances in particular.

As for the lower price you quote,yes I could have had Tourances cheaper,and from Bathers,but I prefer the Pirellis.

Last night`s blast reinforced my opinion that the MT90 Scorpion is superior to the Tourance,the bike was smoother,tyre feedback was impressive and stability at all speeds was better ( yes,even compared to new Tourances,before some wag mentions that mine were worn out.. ).
