:thumb2 Free BikeSafe Course - for anyone who takes the course in North Wales :thumb2

If you are thinking of attending a BikeSfafe course why not have a weekend break in beautiful North Wales, renowned for some cracking roads & scenery.

There 2 'types' of BikeSafe courses available - one a 2-day BikeSafe course and the other is the first day BikeSafe and the second day 'FBoS' (First Bike on Scene).

The courses are free to anyone (but once only) who take the BikeSafe course in North Wales - but you'll have to find your own accommodation.

Most of courses are run from the Police HQ, Colwyn Bay - however the 'FBoS' days may held at Abergele Hospital. Both courses are designed and delivered by bikers for bikers.

For details and dates etc use this link:

http://www.bikesafe.co.uk/Bikesafe/Bikesafe2000/wales/northwales/Northwales.html

If you do take advantage of this offer, let me know the course dates - I may be observing that day.

Only free for north wales residents, or have I misread the details

If you want further confirmation of this please contact either Steve Green or Paul Cheshire on the phone numbers quoted on the BikeSafe North Wales website - follow this link http://www.bikesafe.co.uk/Bikesafe/Bikesafe2000/wales/northwales/Northwales.html

If you do book a course, please let them know you got the info from this forum :thumb

Safe Riding !!

Wasn't he caught scaling the walls of his own office?

Yes, there was scaffolding up so the bugger clambered up it, it was just before I did my Bikesafe there a couple of years ago, if the weekend is free then I would strongly advise you to fill yer boots, Paul Cheshire is a top bloke and you will be in for an informative weekend, the routes used are some of our fine Welsh biking roads :thumb2

I Gave them a Call

Well I spoke to Steve at 09:30 this morning and was told I was the second caller from UKGsers. I'm looking at 24/25 of April. Just waiting for my email to confirm things. :thumb2

Did it last year.... and paid... :(:(

However was a good couple of days.

But beware a few of the instructors... They are particularly "old school".

The main criticism I had is the differing advice. While on the rideouts you do not have a headset, so there are no instructions or immediate feedback. After half an hour or so you will pull over and be given feedback. Some of this differed between the instructors. :blast:blast So you put one thing into practice, and then the next instructor asks why you were doing that :confused:

Still worthwhile though... :thumb2:thumb2:thumb2

Just phoned and got booked in on 24/25 april (see you there Paz:thumb2).
The guy said he'd had alot of callers off this site... well done for starting it RILLOM. And its free to everyone, not just north waleians:thumb2

Mirrors and indicators boys, mirrors and indicators :).

And

watch yer speedo, youll do around 60 miles at the legal limit, thats hard work.
and i never knew wether they would turn a blind eye or not???good question??

Did not notice that bit on the Welsh one, mind you I was the only one able to stay with the assessor for one part :augie

It really does depend on who yer get. And of course it depends on whose in your group. If there are two or three riders, and they're all competent and capable, some of the instructors will chill and up the pace a tad. But the bottom line will always be his ass!! If the pace quickens up and there's an accident the shit will hit the fan, 'yeah we were doing 90 down this b road when ..... :blast'
So its very much a case of whose in your group, have you got a strict by the book instructor, or have you got a petrol head whose happy to let it flow a little .... :thumb

My suggestion would be to ask. Do an hour or so at the limit and then ask him. 'can we pick it up a bit in the nationals?' At least you'll know where you stand then.

That's advanced training for ya. They're all up their own arses & spend hours discussing the finer points of left or right foot down etc.

99% are Police rider wannabes or hasbeens living the dream.

Do it once then steer well clear & go enjoy your biking instead of letting it take over your life. It's a hobby FFS.

And North Wales? After the way they treat people they can tow the place down to the Falklands & do a swap with folk who'd appreciate human company :beerjug:

Both of my assessors were plod, the North Wales police have abandoned those nasty policies, please do not insult my country :thumb2
