ive version 6 on my 2610 im now after version 7 i emailed garmin and immediately got a response stating they will send me version 7 i bought my 2610 in jan of this year on the understanding i get a free update which garmin have complied with.to unlock your codes you go to their website and open the unlock code and follow their instructions,i dont know what the difference is between the two obviously it must be better, will post results as i get them

The difference is HUGE!!!!

I have England Eire france and Spain on mine that I use regulary, that used to tak eup about 450 odd mb on a 512 sd card.

It now takes up double that on a 1gb sd card.

Thats with city select, but city nav is much the same, and im sure will have the same updates.

well I don't know!!! I must be doing some thing wrong?? must be 4 weeks ago now I emailed on the garmin site for the update of v7 and no answer at all, I am sure that I followed all the correct route, I got my 2610 in Jan.05, gave them my home AD,..
so what may I have done wrong?? do you think, I posted to the EM.add that said go here, I have sent 2 emails off to them and no reply????any hints????

as you were?? it just came, the v7 that is,so sorry mr. garmin.
now lets see how it loads .....

Mine (V.7) just arrived.

Installed it on my laptop and then compared it to the version on this (desktop).

There is more coverage of Finland and Czech Republic. I can't see the expanded coverage of France and Spain though!

I've been comparing the level of detail and info for a given location on both versions. Must be there somewhere.

yes m8, just finished loading mine up,will play later tho, but it looks a few more tool;s in the tool bar, and a new way to store stuff?????

There's definitely a new tool on the toolbar of Mapsource: you can change the level of detail without going through 'preferences' etc.

Gotterdammerung : look at the level of detail for Grignan, in France. On mine it was much better for CN7 than 6

There are many many updates to France and Spain, you may not find them by looking on the computer.

For example, it will now calculate a better route from Calais to Irun bypassing Paris and Lemans more effectively, theres also a huge new road network around Madrid that used to curveball the gps all the time. Now, its all on there.

Remember seeing the new bridge opened in France recently, that traverses a Gorge making access to the med much quicker?
Thats on there too.

There are huge advancements in coverage in the uk too, many new roads have been added.

Save for the fact that, theres obviously more data there due to the fact that its gone from 400 mb to 800 mb for the same areas.

The M6 toll now exists as a motorway as well which for anyone having to be in the Birmingham area must be a bonus. V6 showed it but not completely and without the attributes of a motorway.

You're not wrong!

The first few places that I checked didn't seem to be any different but I'm finding more detail the more I play with it:clap
