It appears that Tom Tom have removed the "Safety Camera" data during updates.
Since 1st Jan, it is illegal in France to show speed cameras, so TomTom has had to compy.

Anyone any OV2 + bmp files ro better still, the original camera files.

Mine have gone now completely from PC and Device.

Rider 2 model.

I noticed garmin now refer to danger spots, or similar on the French version of what is called safety cameras on their speed. Camera site add ons.

You might also note (from a French site):

The Decree No 2012-3 of January 3, 2012 carrying various security measures of the road which sets up this prohibition will be applicable as of on January 5, 2012 but it does not specify the methods of application of this measurement.
Indeed, to date, police officers or gendarmes do not have the authorization to penetrate in your vehicle, nor to even consult your portable. Only the customs can be entitled to do it in certain cases.

Pretty toothless, is it not?
All this is resulting from the radar DETECTOR type of device. A GPS is NOT that, but even Coyote (FR) say their unit is 100% legal...

I will not be deleting mine anytime soon... mind you, I can turn mine on and off at will icon_whistle

only in relation for the GPS, they can and do enter all the time

I am still running 2010 maps (with alerts) and I am not going to pay to have them removed!

The thing is I can't see them stopping you unless your speeding, and if your dumb enough to get caught speeding by a trap you have been alerted to then you really should not be allowed to drive a motor vehicle.

Can't see this being a big issue on a GS as it cruises very nicely at French Motorway speeds (especially when you consider the 5-7% speedo error)

On my ZZR French motorways where normally devoured at about 110 as anything else felt so slow.

Looking forward to my next French trip with no concerns over these laws, especially as in my experience the French plod seem OK

A confused situation for the moment, but it seems likely that France is heading the way of several other European countries in banning the use of GPS camera locators.

Garmin already have switzerland/Austria legal versions of their maps.
