Friars Carse Hotel

I've just booked a room at Friars Carse Hotel, not far from Dumfries, and I've just read some pretty discouraging reviews on it, although some reviewers gave it full marks. As we are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary I'm considering cancelling but I thought I'd ask here if anybody has stayed there or has any knowledge of the hotel.

By the way, I've just posted a query in the Bk. & Bollocks 'Monty Hall' thread about your famed bugs and then I came across all the answers in the Scottish Section- thanks!

sorry John, don't know about this one, hope someone can enlighten you though, it's an awfully big event to go wrong....

I stayed init with the wife and freinds John about 6 years ago ,it was a pretty musty kinda Fawlty towers kinda place ,I was fishing the Nith .I dont think I would go back .The one thing there is a wee place a mile along the road called the Auldgirth inn and we Ate and Drank in there on the advice of the Friars Carse Receptionist (what does that tell you).
