My search for a F650GS has finally ceased as I part-ex'd my CBF1000 last Saturday. It's a 2008 model with 10.5k with a few accessories but I do need a few more :D

I see stuff advertised on this forum but sellers seem to refer to "GS" model totally forgetting there are several GS's in the range!

I'm looking for pannier rails and panniers.
Will F800 equipment fit?

Welcome. And yes 90% of the 800 stuff fits the 650. Stuff like panniers and racks are all common

'Bout time too:D

You've been hanging around with the GS boys for far too long:kissy2

Welcome and enjoy a cracking bike

Thanks for the suggestions. The bike came with a BMW rack and top box.
I've posted in the Wanted section.

Oddly, I've never been on a GS ride out - with the exception of an off-road ride with yourself et al.

Funny enough, I too came from a cbf 1000 a8 to a 650 twin gs. Best move I ever made,
No vibe at 5
No handle bar wobble
It doesn't weight a ton
I get 70 mpg ALL THE TIME
Its easier to work on.
I have always regretted selling any of my bikes for one reason or another but going from the biffer to the gs is like night and day..
Welcome to the fold mate.

I have just come from an R1200GS Adventure and I find the 650 a truly fantastic machine. I absolutely love it !

So well done, good choice - enjoy !

tosh23, how did you do that? Rolling down downhill in neutrall? So far in a two years of ownership of F800 I managed something from 37mpg to 55-60mpg.But 70? Never. Are you riding for having fun or pleasure, or for being economical(that's what a 50cc scooters are).Just wondering as a few people was crucifying KTM 990 adv for being thirsty:eek.

I certainly don't miss the wobble nor the weight!
The 60mile 70mph motorway ride home averaged 63mpg. Never thought I'd see the day when fuel costs was important when riding 2 wheels.....

:thumb2 Great engine braking
 Bad side stand - having an extension fitted this weekend

Well it is a F650gs twin you know :D

some get more than 70 mpg in certain situations but of course it varies :thumb

My target is 65 mpg (ridden enjoyably) if it doesn't achieve that I'll probably go back to a standard 1200 GS

I'm hoping the mpg will settle down in 2-3 thousand miles :-)

It is so easy to get 70mpg, only go up to 4k revs in every gear apart from top gear then 4.5 in top. 70mpg all day...

Was out with the big boys on the Yorkshire ride yesterday and managed 70mpg over the nearly 300 mile

Thanks Tosh23

I'm happy tonrode economically but I must first run the bike in sonthat the entire rev range is available when required.

I can't call for 8,000 revs to get me out of a scrape if the engine has never seen those revs before ?

There is little useful running in info in the handbook (keep under 5k revs forbte first 600 miles !!) but, to me, that's no way to run an engine in - so I'm making it up as I go along :nenau

Apologies for typos (****ing iPhones!) I corrected last night but that bombed and now the system won't let me edit it.

Having done about 350 miles on the GS, the bike is still showing an average of 63ish mpg. I don't thrash my bikes but I do like to make progress. I didn't buy the bike for good MPG but it's just a bonus if it's economical.

A friend bought a new Tenere 660 last year & is obsessed with getting 70-80mpg. He never rides out of Yorkshire - may as well have bought a scooter....
