Apologies for bringing up an old subject:(
Briefly, front brake lever is pulsing, front end is nodding. I have looked through here and several other sites. It seems to be an ongoing problem that BMW seems not to recognise. I found some Service Bulletin Numbers which, from my understanding replaced the discs and bolts with different bolts. I rung Customer Services who stated they did not exist. It has recently had its 24000 service and was not picked up. When I rung the dealer about it, they said discs were covered until 10000,after that unlikely to be replaced.
My bike is a 07 model without ABS. I have had a very unhappy relationship with BMW since I purchased the bike last August. I am on the point of selling up and moving to Triumph!!
I can appreciate brakes wear,I do not go offroad,I do not brake heavy...I use the rear now. Do I make a noise about this? Will I get any where? I dont know what to do
Oh, they wanted over four hundred pounds to rectify the problem!!

A 2007 bike with 24,000......:eek, wear and tear mate, replace at your cost.

And if you go to triumph, best of luck, but don't fool yourself that their product is flawless at 24,000......or any number of miles up to that point.

I am led to believe that the old style discs and mounting bobbins with wavy washers are no longer available and that any replacements will be the new style discs with the riveted on bobbins.
Be aware that the new style disc mounts space the discs 4mm wider apart and may foul your callipers.
I am also led to believe that bmw supply an offset disc to overcome this very problem.

Are these numbers service bulletin numbers?

I suppose your going to tell me next that the bike has done alot of miles for its year :D

I know its wear and tear, but I have lurched from one problem to the next with BMW. I ll start looking for discs then...:)

I haven't read other threads on this so apols if I am repeating or barking up the wrong tree.

A vey common cause of warped discs, irrespective of age is leaving the brake applied after a period of frequent or heavy braking. When the brake disc is hot, the applied brake pad keeps the heat in the area it contacts with on the disc, whilst the rest of the disc get air cooled. The difference causes the disc to distort. This causes the brake lever to pulse as the wheel rotates.
