1200GS Triple Black, purchased June 2012
After 1st run in service I noticed fluid creep over both calipers ,dealer very helpful an replaced both calipers an all seemed fine for the next 3000 miles ,now just looked at calipers as its still in hibernation and the left calipers saturated and has leaked onto the rim (steering lock on) leaving a nice mess ,it's not coming from the banjo joints or bleed nipples as it was on original calipers but I'm thinking it must be coming from the calipers internals somewhere ?? And creeping and since it hasn't been out of late it's now left a trail on my nice black spoked rims !! It looks like water but its not its very clear but viscous fluid .
Any body had similar problems with front calipers ,also long term will the fluid damage the front rim,and yes it will be a warranty job very soon again !!! :blast
Cheers for any replies :thumb2

tbh not heard of that one before most strange, and as both calipers were replaced before it seems very unlikely another new one would leak, are you sure the banjo washers are not leaking and fluid creeping round and dripping.

This is the first time I here about this problem:confused: but what is unlucky to happen to you on the same bike twice :)
If you think that is not safe then take it back to your local dealer and ask them to sort out the peculiar problem :beerjug:

Had this once on a friends K1200S. After sitting idol for 3 months it was noticed fluid on the wheel rim that turned out to be brake fluid.
The bike went into a central London dealer who changed the calliper but charged for it as they maintained it was a damaged seal caused by road debris/stone chippings.
I had a good look at the calliper and couldn't find any cuts to the seals but the owner of the bike didn't want to persue it.

Yep it's bone dry around both banjos and the new replaced calipers came off a new crated bike at dealers and originals were leaking from bleed nipples and thought to have been bad honing of threads ,but now the replaced ones are dry in all places where you would suspect leakage I.e nipples /banjos but calipers surfaces covered in fluid creepage and over time of 2monthes has leaked onto rim !!! Best get it collected and let dealer try to resolve this mystery ,my only thoughts are there was a dodgy batch of calipers produced at time of bike build ?? Cheers for responses :thumb

i hope its not a batch of calipers faulty(i doubt it tbh) as i have a 2012 gsa.

Give it a thorough clean with brake cleaner and then examine the calliper with the brake applied firmly.

Take the calipers off and see where it's coming from or get BMW dealer to do it.

Me, I'd do both :)

Mondial phoned and will come for a looky looky before it turns a wheel ,better to be safe than sorry with fluid loss  :thumb

Don't touch it!
Contact dealer and get it sorted under warranty.

Start fucking about and you could lose any warranty.

Don't even know why you're asking on here on a 6 month old bike!

I'm asking just incase anyone else has recently had problems with a newish bike with the same issues, don't panic I'm not about to lose any warranty cover by even touching the calipers, dealer contacted and going in for inspection ,but again thanks for your concern about asking a valid query on this forum :blast

It could be porous casting or cracks in the callipers. Also get the hose unions above the banjos checked-out
