Front disc bolts

Its true. I`m not, but I know my way around machinery and easyouts / easy outs, are NOT GOOD

They have their uses if the part can be manouvered under a pillar drill, but if the stud is seized/corroded in place the extractor method isn't likely to work. So just drill it out. Simples.

And the snap on ones can work as long as the stud isn't smaller than an M8. But than again, these seized bolts are smallish and in a pedestal, and after drilling them out so an extractor can be used you have the very distinct possibility of the pedestal fracturing as the extractor is used rather than the seized stud coming free.
You drill a smaller hole and use a smaller extractor, it may well break.
You drill a larger hole and use a larger extractor and the pedestal may well fracture.

Hobsons choice. :D

FWIW

If memory serves me correct,I seem to remember a hardened steel stud extractor which was pretty much the same shape as a torx bit.
Think it was called Lisel (Lisle?)Super Out.:nenau

Left hand twist drill bits in a reversing power drill are well worth a try.

Hi all,

Despite using plenty of heat some of these bolts rounded off in situe as they were being tightened.

Has any one had any experience of drilling them out and if so did you manage to helicoil the thread again?

Any tip other than 'do it carefully' would be much appreciated.

use copper slip when you use new ones , must admit mine were dry threaded to grrr use hot water on the wheel heat it up
