Its true. I`m not, but I know my way around machinery and easyouts / easy outs, are NOT GOOD![]()
They have their uses if the part can be manouvered under a pillar drill, but if the stud is seized/corroded in place the extractor method isn't likely to work. So just drill it out. Simples.
And the snap on ones can work as long as the stud isn't smaller than an M8. But than again, these seized bolts are smallish and in a pedestal, and after drilling them out so an extractor can be used you have the very distinct possibility of the pedestal fracturing as the extractor is used rather than the seized stud coming free.
You drill a smaller hole and use a smaller extractor, it may well break.
You drill a larger hole and use a larger extractor and the pedestal may well fracture.
