We have just received a recall notice to check the front disk fixing bolts on our F650gs. Its nice to know BMW take safety so seriously, the bike is almost three years old now.

Hi Sooty,

I think I had a this recall done about a year and a half ago, but can't be sure there have been so many!

Got my recall letter through today, dated December 2010.

I think its specific to the F650 GS, and a new recall :nenau

Well ...

... as Jaq is the owner of one of the very first F650GS's I'm a little surprised theat we haven't had a letter of any sort :eek

Although, thinking about it, no I'm not ... OCEAN

Might be worth calling the dealership :nenau

as mentioned got mine yesterday but thepost is backloged and up the creek

mine was purchased sept 08, (but I did not get a chain recall :nenau)

Got mine today for my 59 plate 650gs!

Rang up chandlers to sort it out and the have no mechanics in due to the snow! D'oh!

Can't be helped!

No recall on the F800gs yet, the disks are fully floating and held in place with bobbins, not bolts.

Got mine here in Mexico just in time for them to order them for the 20,000km check. I am working on getting a new front disc under warranty because of corrosion on the disc and ABS sensor, not to mention the exhaust.
Well see if they will cough up on those. Watch this space.

My Wife's letter arrived yesterday here is Sheffield, I told her as she has a day off to get it to Rainbow.. But I think the -7 might have put her off and I got the evil look :).. I don't know some people

It must be ...

... syncronicity ! Letter arrived in backlog of post; plus reassuring call from Ocean to say her disc bolts were changed in October (service) but this is yet a further change which will be done at next visit :thumb

Although looking out of the window, next visit could be March :augie

Yep, received mine today, dont think it will be done for a while yet though, wait for snow/salt to go away 1st :thumb2

Got mine just before Xmas, nipped in to Rainbow in Rotherham asked him if it needed doing as they had fitted a new front disc and pads a week or so before and they said yep and did it straight away, always loved the service at Rainbow.

This is an update to the previous disc bolt recall.
The disc has to be removed. The paper washers between the disc and the wheel have to be removed & are not refitted, the disc is bolted back onto the wheel with new bolts & a slightly thicker wheel spacer is fitted to take up the clearance from the defunct washers.

got my recall done when it went in for service just before xmas - it's coming home tomorrow - they kept it in as didn't have all the parts for the recall as the letter arrived literally the morning i was taking the bike in - the garage here feels too empty without it :roll

the nice boys at motorrad have fitted the fancy new spotlights wot i got for my birthday too , yummmeeeeee :)

had the disc bolt recall done recently, when i got it home i noticed the abs sensor was rubbing on the toothed rotor, took it back, pidcocks reconed it was a duff spacer?was a bit pissed off that they didnt notice it b4 letting me have it back.also informed me that the chain and sprockets needed changing a week after i shelled out for new ones:blast

Mrs Gringo's was done last week. it's also going to get new chain & sprockets as a recall (the broken chain was done as a warranty repair, not the rubbish chain recall we all quite rightly badgered BM into)
