I am about to get my second replaced under warranty due to corrosion.
How many have you got through?
Have you had any problems getting the same part replaced (my dealer mentioned that BMW may only replace parts once under warranty?).

I've had one so far.

With regards to B*W only replacing it once, if it happened to me I would take issue. If your getting a "new " part I would expect the warranty to last for at least as long as the outstanding warranty on the whole motorcycle.

My bike is in the dealers at the moment, getting two new cylinder heads and a front engine casing while I'm riding around on the grey porridge which is their R1200ST demo bike. It does concern me that the replacements are going to go the same way after just one more Scottish winter, in spite of liberal applications of FS365 and regular washing after each outing on salty roads. BMW's water based paint just doesn't appear to be up to the job. I suspect that the ulitmate solution will be to remove the offending parts and take them along to my local metal cleaning specialist to have them blasted and painted in two-pack epoxy.

Hi Mike,

It must be something to do with the salt that they use on the roads around the 'ferry. I got both my cyl. heads replaced at the same time as the front engine casing a few months back.
While the heads are off get the dealer to check the cam shaft pump? (still not sure about this one but my dealer noticed that something in the head hadn't been fixed properly during the original build. He said it was a small pump?)
